My first tattoo, done on my 19th birthday. It’s the astronomical symbol for Jupiter, which has been my favorite planet since I was a little girl. I’m studying to become an astrophysicist someday and astronomy is so incredibly important to me, so I couldn’t think of a more perfect tattoo. Done by Alex at Industrial Tattoo in Berkeley, CA.

I’ll be addin’ some forget-me-nots for my amazing momma later on, but the daisy’s in honor of my crazy godmother, and the sunny’s to remind me to keep on bein’ the happy lil’ lady I am, and maybe add a little confidence and radiance in there somewhere…
The bumblebee is something I wanted ‘cus I absolutely adore them, and also they seem to scare a lot of people…so I guess I wanted to show off their beauty somehow, and always have their friendly busyness with me.

This is my second and certainly not the last of my tattoos, it’s of my two cats one of whom recently passed away. She was a part of the family for a very very long time so this is my quirky homage to her.
It was done by the amazingly talented Johnny McDevitt at Insight Studios in Chicago.

This was done in Strange City, Edmonton, Alberta by Shawn Thompson.

Growing up, my grandma had lived with my family and I when I was in Hong Kong. My parents were always busy people earning money and providing for the family. With that in mind, my grandma was raised me since I was a child. 12 years ago, my parents and my sister decided to move to Canada, and occasionally visited Hong Kong, whenever we can. As the years passed, my grandma’s health had become worst and worst each year, until one day she suffered a massive stroke. The result of that was hemiplegia and she could not move her entire left side of her body. Bed ridden for many years, she tried her best on a positive outlook. The most dishearten part of this story was before her stroke, she recognized her old age, and had told me once that “if I was to pass away, I hope I don’t suffer for years till the end”

Growing into adulthood, with school, and development of my career, life became busy and hetic. The time to go back home and visit her became less and less. This January, she suffered another stroke, and passed away. My heart broke in my absence to see her when I could have. The time I went chasing after success and not realizing what I gave up.

At my time of grief, this one song helped me through it. The song is Passion- Well Done. At the chorus of this song it sings “…wish I knew how to turn back the hands of time, cause maybe then I’d be here by your side…wish that I had done just a little more, wish that I could see you one more time…”

With that in mind, this tattoo is dedicated to my grandma, to my family, and the recognition of how little time we have on this world. The time on the clock is the time my grandma passed away.
