This was my very first tattoo on top of my foot. The sunset is in memory of my grandmother, it was her favorite thing to watch every night. The Cross is because I am a Christian and the heart is for the love I have to give. Eric at Crucial Tattoo Studio in Salisbury, MD did this tattoo.

This is my newest tattoo (6 of 6 so far) freshly done on my 23rd birthday. It’s of my dog, Rocky. This might be a long story, but I really want you guys to understand why I got my dog’s picture inked on me forever. It wasn’t because I was drunk or being impulsive, it’s literally because we have a connection that’s unreal.

This dog is no ordinary dog, and everyone that meets him knows that. Rocky, formerly known as “Max”, was adopted after 15 days of moving to Alaska after I got married to my husband who’s in the US Air Force. My Dad has always hated dogs, so the first thing I wanted on my own was a dog, so we went to the local Animal Control Shelter to take a look. “Max” was about 8 years old and was severely beaten and taken away by the state from his former owners, most of his teeth are kicked out and his nose is permanently broken. When we first met, this dog was terrified of everything; wouldn’t move, scared of people (and who wouldn’t be after being beaten for so long) but he had been there for years and nobody wanted him, they were ready to give up on him. I felt bad but didn’t want a dog that was going to be nothing but a burden, so we put him back. After no other dogs filling what we thought we needed in a pet, I took one more look around, peered into “Max’s” cage and his sad face brightened up and smiled his big goofy smile. I was sold, something clicked and from then on I knew something was special about what we had. As they were getting the paperwork done, they asked if we wanted to change his name and we agreed because this uncommon dog couldn’t have a common name so we thought and “Rocky” just popped out. The name was an accident but we immediately knew that was him, it had to be. No other dog could take that repeated abuse and be as sweet as he is. After a week, Rocky and I became best friends and to this day, we still are. He wakes me up, goes with me wherever I can take him, sits next to me everywhere, never stops the kisses, falls asleep in my arms and does it again the next day. A dog who can forgive people who did nothing but hate is something special, and Rocky has a spark that everyone sees when they see him. I never could have thought I’d get that kind of connection with an animal, but even my Dad loves him. A Rocky friend is what everyone wants, someone to listen and give kisses, play and run, and sit and chill, he’s everything to me. This tattoo was done at Body Piercing Unlimited in Anchorage, AK and this is my second tattoo from them and hopefully, not my last before we move to another base.

I really appreciate you all reading about Rocky and I. He thanks you, too. :) Peace and love.
