Some ancient filipino theory on the origins & fate of the universe… Whatever it is, it represents u..& all of us.. in Quasars accreting & excreting creating one unit, plank time.. or binary black holes.. or electromagnetic fields imploding & exploding into one another.. in any case, i digs. or maybe its ur soul bounded & enclosed, & when u release ur arms u open & invite & extend & embrace the world before u and from what i know, ur arms r always open;) luv u shen”

This is my first and at present, only tattoo. It is situated on my left ankle and was done by Jorge Becerra of Love Hate Tattoo, Edinburgh.
The word “nevermore” is rife with personal meaning to me, originally from Edgar Allan Poe’s wonderful poem “The Raven” it instantly became one of the most beautiful words i had ever heard from a young age. Poe quickly became my favourite poet after hearing “The Raven” for the first time.
Throughout my life i have struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts and self harm but now, as a twenty year old woman facing the world through an unclouded lens for the first time i say “nevermore” to all the negativity and bad energy that has been in my life. Onwards and upwards, ae?

I got this tattoo about a year ago. Bob Layne was my artist and he did an absolutely tremendous job! I got it while he was working at Diabolik Ink but he is now working at The Brass Quill Gallery in Valdosta, Ga. The blue garter represents purity. But I mostly got it due to spending most of the childhood as a tomboy. As I got older, I sort of grew into my womanhood and figured that the blue guarder would represent that perfectly. This tattoo took seven hours, and it was definitely worth it!
I set a link to go to the Brass Quill Gallery’s facebook page when you click the picture. Check them out!

This is my first and currently only tattoo, but definitely not the last. I get a lot of questions about what it stands for and it has a lot of meanings. For one I got it because a lot of people feel caged and bored and don’t understand why, I think it’s because we’re/they’re afraid to take the chance to do something radical or to test themselves and just get comfortable in patterns. Eventually they feel like the caged bird. It’s kind of a reminder for me to never settle until I’ve lived.
There’s also a quote from a Suis La Lune song that goes “you will stay in my memory, like a bird in a cage” which means a lot to me for reasons.
Made at “Circle Tattoo” in Stockholm, Sweden by Dawid (who always uses vegan ink.)

The word laugh is something my Gramps always used to say to me; laugh- have fun, be crazy, and don’t take anything too seriously, especially yourself. RIP Gramps, love you to the moon and back.
