My 3rd tattoo on my right arm. I got this as a representation of letting the past burn and moving on from trials and tribulations. Done by Kyle @ Las Vegas Tattoo, Tampa FL

My first, done by Apollo at A Stroke of Genius Tattoo, Boca Raton, FL.
The last line of my favorite book, Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer, the only book to ever make my cry (which is saying a lot, as I’m a lit major and a writer).
Long story short, and why it’s so meaningful: the last year of my life has been the hardest, I was literally suicidal and done with everything, diagnosed with trauma, the whole deal. I had read the book years ago, and it just resonated with me so hard even back then. Last December, right when the most traumatic part of my year happened, right at my lowest point, I rebought a copy (I had lent it out/lost it). I have a bad habit of reading the last line of every book, and even though I had read EiI, I flipped to the last page:
"Do you understand me? I will walk without noise, and I will open the door in darkness, and i will"
And I’ve never felt more peace (or cried so hard) in my entire life. Such a sad ending, but for me, it can go either way: and I will let my demons torment me, or and I will prevail. It’s my reminder to keep going.
