This is the tribute piece I got for my best friend in the entire world. He had Ewing Sarcoma when he was a small child, from his cancer he was missing a majority of the bones in his legs. His surgeries left him with a limp and having to use a cane a majority of the time. He was the proudest, biggest jerk in the world, never wanting help from anyone. We were more like siblings than friends, fought constantly. In October 2012 he and I had lunch and he told me he was dying from liver failure from his childhood cancer treatment. That night I texted him, telling him how much I’d miss his texts and what I’d feel when he couldn’t respond. He suggested I use a ouija board from now on. I was so mad, but it was that sense of humor that made me love him. Two weeks later he left us.
I put it on my right calf because that’s where he had one of his gnarliest scars from his cancer.
Josh Wilcox at Heritage Tattoo in Las Vegas, NV put this gorgeous tattoo on me in November in memory of Nick. (The “H” in the planchette is for his last name).
Love you, Nick!
