The first picture was taken literally seconds after it was done, and the second was taken the day after and is just a closer picture of the heart on the end of “okay”.

The story behind this tattoo is pretty simple. Anyone who knows me know that I suffer from relatively severe anxiety, in addition to panic attacks. I had decided awhile ago that I had wanted to get an anxiety related tattoo but I didn’t know what or where. Then, a couple days ago the words “deep breath” came into my head. I originally was just going to get that with “deep” on one knee and “breath” on the other, but it didn’t quite seem… finished I guess you could say. I kinda put the idea on the back burner and then a couple hours later I thought of the “you’re okay”… I started doodling and playing around with font and then the heart idea came to mind. I immediately fell in love with the idea and it wasn’t long after that did I call and make an appointment to get it done the next day… and I did!

The tattoo is on my knees so I can still see it if I’m sitting down. I chose my knees because I more often than not sit/lay in the fetal position when I’m having an attack or if I’m getting really anxious, so the placement in my opinion is perfect.

The tattoo experience was great. Since it was my first time getting one I can’t say if it was more painful than other places, but the pain was about what I expected, but I personally found the sound of the needle more intimidating than the pain. My artist was great and was very friendly and was very open, and he was a pleasure to work with!

I am personally in love with this tattoo and I’m not sure if I will be able to top it when it comes to meaning and significance. I’m still in awe and it hasn’t quite sunk in that I have a tattoo yet!
