This is my Dave Longstreth/Joanna Newsom tribute tattoo. I admire Joanna for her lyrics, and Dave for his music; they are my two biggest musical influences. The red and blue background is from the album, “Bitte Orca” by Dave’s band, Dirty Projectors. The red and the blue intermingling represents how lyrics and music are both needed to intertwine in order to make a song. The two brown finches are reoccurring birds that Dave uses in most of his albums, and the canary and sparrow are from Joanna Newsom’s albums “The Milk-Eyed Mender” and “Ys”, respectively. The finches also represent my little sisters, as they’re my little songbirds, and the canary, my mother, while the sparrow is my father. I’m very happy with it.
