This is my ampersand tattoo. It’s by no means the most original ink ever… But I wanted something simple to reflect my love for words; I tried quotes, words, and I always felt it didn’t show anything more than the meaning of the quote/word itself. I browsed thousands of fonts to find the perfect letter or sign, and then I saw it.
It has nothing to do with ‘and’, really, or it wasn’t when I got it inked. It’s just it looked great, was (mostly) universally recognizable, and therefore seemed to be the perfect symbol for me.
Also, it has a wonderfully pretty French name: esperluette.
The font is Eloquent (aka Pistilli Roman), inked by Sophie Haza (Lyon, France).
