This is my second tattoo, it is a Sun Zia which is the native american symbol for the sun but more specifically rays represent the four directions of the wind: North, South, East, and West. the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. the four phases of life: Childhood, Youth, Manhood, and Old Age. the final four rays symbolize the times of the day: Morning, Noon, Evening, and Night. as a whole the Sun Zia is a symbol of the four things that one should strive for in a holistic life: a clear mind, open heart, strong body, and devoted to serving others.
More importantly I study the politics of human rights and this reminds me to never forget about those who have been marginalized, the red stands for the blood that has been shed by the innocent, it reminds me to keep fighting.
