I’ve always had a fascination with pretty girls, guns, and my family history, and this tattoo is my way of expressing those things. Sticking out of the barrel of the AK-47 swung over my lady’s shoulder, there’s a carnation, which is in dedication to Portugal’s Carnation Revolution, a completely bloodless coup of the dictatorship that had choked the country for years. That event was the start of a chain of events that saw my dad leaving the Azores, my mother fleeing her home country of Angola (a former Portuguese colony that erupted in civil war after being granted independence), settling in America a block away from each other, meeting, getting married, and having me.
