Fresh ink. I just got this Sunday at Deluxe Tattoo on Irving Park (between Ashland and Southport). Zach was the artist. It was copied off that design I posted a little bit ago.

Swallows have a couple of different meanings. Originally they were to keep sailors safe on a long journey. As a traveler, I feel as though it fits. Also, sailors would get one when they crossed the equator and another when they returned (I’m going to South America in January, so… again, the meaning is apt). Swallows are also supposed to carry your soul to heaven when you die… I don’t believe in a “heaven” per say, but I still like the idea that my soul would be looked after. Finally, parents would get them when they had children because swallows always return to their original nesting place and the hope is that their children would also…. welllllll I don’t have any kids, so this doesn’t mean anything to me, but at some point I plan on it, so… it will… I guess…

Anyways, I am really LOVING this (these?) tattoo(s). I’m not sure if it’s my favorite as my little G has HUGE significance to me, but it’s close! I don’t know if its done, though. I’m wondering if I should do some shading on it/ maybe add a stripe of color in the wings…. Ah well… it’s on me forever, so I’ve got time to ponder these things. Anyway, what’dya think?
