My beautiful little red asexual heart, on my left hip. The symbol for asexuality—an uncommon, misunderstood sexual orientation characterized by a lack of sexual attraction—is an inverted triangle shaded from dark to light from the bottom up, usually in black but sometimes in red or purple. So the symbol for romantic asexuals, those of us aces who fall in love, is a heart shaded in the same way. Mine’s a little stylized. Asexual visibility is one of the things I’m most passionate about and to which I devote a lot of time, so here is my ink homage to my orientation and hard work.
Also, if/when I get married (not sure if I’ll end up in a state where gay marriage is legal), my wife’s name may go under that heart, if she’s comfortable with it.
