I was diagnosed with depression in September 2011. Though I know I’ve had it for years before that. A lot of things come with depression: negative attitudes, sleepiness and sleeplessness. Getting through it is one of the most challenging processes I’ve ever had to face. It looms over my head every single day, and most times, it keeps me awake at night. But I’m continuing to try and overcome. I got this tattoo one day ago at a family friend’s shop in Minneapolis. I originally heard the saying from Colbie Caillat’s song “Think Good Thoughts.” I fell in love with it for many reasons, and my constant struggle to get out of a hole of depression is merely one of them. I chose to have it permanently on my wrist so I’m always reminded to think good thoughts, even when I feel that I’ve had enough. It’s not easy, but I’m taking life one day at a time. And that’s good enough for me at this point.
In the words of Colbie, I won’t let my negativity turn me into my enemy. :)
