The inspiration for my tattoo in memory of my great uncle. He sowed these images on a handkerchief with threads from his uniform while in a German prison camp. He was shot down on February 25, 1944 during “The Big Week” a campaign that made D-Day possible. He roamed the French countryside and was taken in by a farmer who hid him. On October 25, 1944 he was captured crossing into Spain and remained imprisoned until the end of the war
