This is a rendition of the Libra scales, with the old, “wise” tree serving as the balance for the scales, one attached to each half. The idea behind this tattoo was that each limb was separate from the other, but dependent on the same trunk, were free to sway in the winds that would affect them. While the tree is divided into the realms of life/good [represented by the tuffs of foliage] and evil/death [barren, weathered branches], the scales would remain rather balanced to one another by the sturdiness tree until a strong enough wind would result in one limb to snap, the extreme of each side. Being a Libra, this tattoo is a reminder that I need to remain, fair and balanced. Because as I grow older, I’m realizing that the line tends to blur, that what I thought was the right decision turned out to be wrong and vice versa. So with good intentions and a level head, I can never go wrong.
