“We can’t control the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails”
This tattoo means a lot to me (it was very swollen at the time of this photo). My mother was in rehab for a heroine addiction that she had suffered from for the last 6-10 years. After almost a decade of everyone turning a blind eye to her addiction, I knew she was going to die and decided to confront her. It took a lot of denial and a lot of arguing, but she finally realized she couldn’t keep secrets anymore. She checked herself into rehab and has been going to NA meetings every night and mostly important she has been clean for six months now. She credits me for saving her life, but what she did shows how strong she is. This quote was on the coin given to her when she graduated from rehab and it symbolizes her evolution as not only an addict, but as a mother.
