I got this today at Zaza Ink. It’s for my parents. Although we have our problems, they are the two that brought me into this world. They’re the ones who gave me life, they raised me and formed me into the person I am today. My father is a hunter, that’s why I chose the deer. Deer have been a large part of my family since a young age. Deer have this uncanny sense of where to find food, to find the
green freshness earth provides. They can find it through leaves, through snow, ect. They have done that, they’ve gone to any means to provide for me, they’ve helped me find within myself the inner treasures I hold. It has also been said that the deer (particularly the doe, females) has the capacity for infinite generosity. Their heart rhythms pulse in soft waves of kindness. In China, the deer is a symbol of happiness and good fortune. I also read somewhere that the Deer teaches us to be gentle, to touch the hearts and minds of wounded beings who are in our lives. Don’t push people to change, rather gently nudge them in right direction, with the love that comes from deer. Love and accept people as they are. The balance of true power lays in love and compassion. Which are also many of the things my parents instilled in me throughout my life. I want it on my left wrist because I want it across from my tattoo for Melanie. These three have been the people who have affected me most in my life and I figured it’s only appropriate to place it there. Also my best friend Kim came with me today to get it. She’s the sister I’ve never had, one of the only people who really knows my parents as well as me. She’s one of the best things in my life. And I’m so thankful she came with me to experience this.
