This is my second tattoo, done in my late mother’s handwriting on my left wrist. Earlier this year I found a series of journals she wrote to me while I was growing up, and immediately I knew I wanted a passage or sentence from them tattooed on me somewhere. What better than “I love you” over old self-harm scars?
