Lines of poetry by Derrick Brown. Behind my ear is the word “Kvinne”.  Kvinne is the Norwegian word for woman and a poem Derrick wrote for his sweet mother.  When my mom passed away 3 years ago, I knew I wanted to have a poem we had loved and shared together permanently branded to my body.  ”You are church” is part of a longer phrase saying, “You are church.  A house of healing that is the closest thing to salvation since people though to hold hands while jumping to their deaths from the failure of buildings.”
