my third and final tattoo! this one’s pretty straightforward - i just got it in february, and it’s the national emblem of sweden called “tre kronor”, which translates to “three crowns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Crowns). i don’t like the fancy-style crowns used on the coat of arms, so i used this as the guide: http://oi56.tinypic.com/2zphzc8.jpg which is pretty much the exact same type of crowns as used on the sweden national hockey team jerseys, haha! but i’m canadian, so a hockey connection is really no big deal - and luckily most swedes don’t look at it and automatically think “must be a huge hockey fan!” so i’m good.
the influence behind this one is basically just that i’ve been learning the swedish language for 4-5 years now. i’ve gone to sweden every summer for the past 3 years, have been extremely involved in my local swedish community and have made several swedish friends both here and in sweden and i just love everything about the culture: the language, the customs, the food, the music, the literature, the films, the beauty of the country itself and most importantly, the people and their outlook/attitude about things. since this country has had such a big impact and been such a big part of my life for years and i don’t see that changing, i just thought it’d be a nice gesture, i guess. and even if i one day decide i hate sweden and it’s the worst country on earth, i still think it’s a pretty cool-looking symbol, honestly - and i’ve learnt so much and had such a great time enjoying the country and learning new things about it including the language the past few years, i think it’d be nice to have a reminder of this point in my life even if i do grow out of loving the country in the future for some reason. heja sverige!
