The symbols represent places I’ve lived other than my home town. Oak Ridge receives the atomic symbol to represent its important place in history as part of the Manhattan Project; Portland, Oregon is known as ‘The City of Roses’; the fleur-de-lis is more or less the de facto visual representation of New Orleans.
