I got the first two of my birds after I got engaged and the last four before I moved away.  Initially I wanted them to be a reminder that I shouldn’t sweat the small stuff (“Look at the birds of the field, they neither sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them.”), but they ended up being more of a representation of spreading my wings and growing up.
