I got this tattoo at Unbreakable Tattoo in Studio City, CA by artist Jeff Meyer. I’d had the rough idea for quite some time. The macaw depicted is my family’s pet macaw, Mario, which has been in my family since before I was born and lives uncaged in our home in Guatemala. However we were forced to leave Guatemala for the US due to safety, and this tattoo to me means home, both my house and my country. Someone recommended Unbreakable Tattoo just about two weeks before I left LA, so I had to act quick. Jeff did an amazing job. I gave him links to pictures of scarlet macaws and of Guatemalan orchids and he whipped this up in like two days. A week later, in a single 5-6 hour session, I had my tattoo!
