This is the beginning of my Japanese themed sleeve, this piece being the steps to making a paper crane.
I learned how to make them a few years ago, and joked that I was going to make a thousand and wish for an Acura. I got really quick at making them and decided it was going to be something that I actually stuck with. About half way to my goal, I went through a horrible break up from an abusive relationship. I used the cranes as a coping method and decided just to wish for a way to be content with myself and with my life.
I finished the cranes a few months later, and a shortly after that I met Brad. Everything seemed to fall into place when he came into my life, and I’ve never in my life been happier or more content.
I don’t believe in magic, but the sentimental part of me will always cherish these little cranes.
