This was my third and favorite tattoo thus far. I knew I wanted something biblical but knew I wanted more than the usual verse reference, yada yada. I thought of the story with Jacob wrestling God and thought I would draw out my own illustration, but through research I found an incredible drawing done by a French artist by the name of Leon Bonnat that was done in 1876. I did some research on where I wanted it done and decided on Three Kings Tattoo in Brooklyn, NYC. The artist’s name was Paul Bosch. I fell in love with his epic work on using shades of black, white, grey, etc. The guy is a genius! The tattoo itself took about 3 1/2 hours in total and came out perfectly. It was one of the best experiences ever, we had a shark steak dinner half way through it and celebrated with whiskey sours afterward. All in all it says exactly what I wanted it to - we all wrestle with something in our lives. Our concept of God, love, personally identifying what we want to fight for, etc. Our humanity is made all the more evident through how much we struggle/wrestle for what we want. Cheers! xxx Joelle
