This is an excerpt from Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet XVII, which is the most amazing poem I’ve ever read. Translated it says:  I love you as the plant that enver blooms but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers; thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance, risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. My mother has always been a stoic person and she isn’t always good at being affectionate and showing her love, but she just underwent surgery and depression and after talking to her through all of it I realized that like this poem her love is just hidden and she loves me like she does because she knows no other way. I love her more than I can ever fathom.  I got my tattoo at Tattoo Boogaloo in North Beach in San Francisco by Mez. She was an amazingly entertaining and talented artist and I wish I had known her to do my other tattoo. Highly recommend her.
