The main design is from a bookplate (the little stamped piece of paper you put in the first page, which identifies the book’s owner) by Robert Whitmore. It was originally published in the 1930s by the Antioch Bookplate Company. The stars are seven of the twelve stars which appear as a cloud on the copyright page of the American Harry Potter books, and any Potter fan (or anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past decade) can tell you why I kept seven.
