After my grandmother passed two years ago, my mother had an extremely difficult time recovering. As an artist, she believed the greatest way to express and relieve her emotions was drawing. She spent months working on a beautiful graphite pencil drawing that ultimately aided her through the mourning process. She based it around the saying, “Rough winds make the roots grow stronger.” My mother means the world to me, and I believe this tattoo will keep her and the rest of my strong “family roots” with me forever.
