This tattoo was done by someone who has become a good friend of mine, Phil DeAngulo at Cap City Tattoo Co. in Columbus, OH. The main focus of the tattoo is the sunrise inside of the eyeball, which comes from lyrics of a Darkest Hour song. “And when I can wake up to see the sunrise in your eyes, then we’ll finally be free and I’ll know I’ve made it home.” There is also an impossible (penrose) triangle which signifies that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it.
Here’s my tribute tattoo to a friend who passed away. She’s always been an inspiration to me and was the one who always said that we should always be grateful to be alive. The time that she has spent on this world may have been short but she’ll always be in my heart forever.
I got this piece at a tattoo convention in Miami yesterday.
My husband and I both got versions of the same anchor because we keep each other grounded. We both have a tendency to hit the ‘self-destruct’ button on our lives from time to time and we’re the only people we know who can pull each other back from the brink before we go off the rails.
The flowers are symbolic of a special friend of the family who pretty much raised me. She was a member of the church where Josh and I met and was very encouraging of our relationship when everyone else told me it was a bad idea and I was wasting my time with him. She passed away a few years ago, so I’m paying tribute to her, too, because pink carnations were her favorite flowers. <3

this is my 3rd tattoo, and the beginning of a sleeve on my left arm. 8:22 represents August 22nd (2010) — the day i sobered up.
I got this tattoo a week ago, this picture was taken shortly after it was complete. It’s placement is my right inner forearm. The quote is “And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.” from the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Its one of my favorite books and meant a lot to me in high school. Now the tattoo serves as a reminder for all the moments in my life that made me feel infinite.
I got it done at Big Guns Tattoo in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, US by Bobb. He was a wonderful artist and after this heals I’m sure I’ll be going back for more ink from him.
