i absolutely love owls. they are unique and stand for wisdom, integrity, mystery, and they are very spiritual animals. My friend and i did this together <3
This is my recent tattoo done by Sick D (Jarek Slezek) of Asgard Southampton UK. I am very happy with it and it only took him one and a half hours!
The original design for this piece was a needlepoint my Grandma made about 40 years ago. It was 4 owls, her and her three daughter, all perched on a olive branch. I brought my artist the needle point and he redrew it. Although it is a more modern version, the eyes and pattern of the fur are what remain original. This is my third, and favorite tattoo. My dad’s parents immigrated to the states in 1950 from Belarus and the Ukraine, originally. My grandmother has always said that her maiden name could be loosely translated to “owl” and my grandfather’s (mine) to “eagle”. My grandfather always associated strongly with bald eagles, being bald himself, and a patriotic immigrant. I am constantly amazed and inspired by the life they built for themselves here, with nothing in their pockets but a pipe and tobacco. I wanted to get something that would inspire me to build the life I’ve dreamt of having, and not one that anyone else would have for me.
Johnny Cupcakes inspired owl. The headphones are for my younger brother who is the only person I know that appreciates music as much as I do. The hipster glasses are the same exact ones that my youngest brother wears. (Prescription lens by the way.) The paintbrush dripped in red is for my big brother who is the artist in the family. And lastly, the Vietnamese peach flowers are for my lovely mother.
Done in Houston at Chunky Monkey Tattoos on 1960 by Trey. An amazing artist who I’ve had the pleasure of receiving two tattoos by so far.
